Jubilee coins — are commemorative coins issued in honour of historical events, persons or as a rarity; jubilee coins are not frequent in circulation.
First jubilee coin of Independent Ukraine has appeared on the 7th of May 1995. It was made of nickel silver and was dedicated to the 50th year jubilee of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. First gold coins of Ukraine (T.G. Chevchenko and Kievo-Pecherskaya Lavra) were introduced into circulation in 1997. In the course of 1995-1997 National Bank issued 38 collection coins of 27 denominations. They were presented at the international forums in USA, Switzerland, China. In November 1997 first issue of Mint of Kyiv was started where on the basis of modern technologies commemorative and jubilee coins of gold, silver and other metals, change coins, as well as medals and state awards will be issued.
